So you read my article on The 3 Best Couponing Apps to Download Today and decided to download Fetch Rewards. Now you’re looking at this foreign app, cute dog mascot and all, and wondering – can someone teach me how to use Fetch Rewards?
Yes. That someone is me.
Keep reading to follow your complete guide on how to use Fetch Rewards.
After downloading the Fetch Rewards app, you want to create an account with a username and password.
Enter the code NDC8M to earn 2,000 points after you submit your first receipt!
Fill out any other information it asks for, like phone number and birth date.
You are welcome to work through the FAQ page that you can find under “Me” –> Help Center. This can be helpful for certain things but if you’re starting from scratch, you don’t even know what you don’t know yet so it’s hard to ask the right questions.
Once your account is set up, go back to the “Discover” tab and we’ll start there.
Fetch Rewards doesn’t give you “cash back” as much as it gives you points that can then be used for various gift cards, Fetch merchandise, or to buy entries for their various sweepstakes.
My preferred route is to cash my points in for gift cards. If you go to “Rewards”, you can see all the different categories of gift cards that are available. If you choose “view all”, you can see them all in alphabetical order.
One thousand points is equal to $1.
So how do you earn points? There are a few different ways.
Fetch Rewards will reward you a minimum of 25 points (roughly $0.03) for each receipt you submit. I haven’t found a receipt that Fetch won’t accept yet. I’ve redeemed receipts from restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, specialty shops, and even parking lots.
For any brand you buy that is affiliated with Fetch Rewards, you will earn 1% of the purchase price. This is equal to 10 points for every $1 spent, on top of the 25 points you receive automatically.
To see all affiliate brands, go to the “Discover” page, find “brands”, and then hit the “view all” button. From there, you can search through categories or simply hit “view all” again to scroll through all available brands.
If you’re on the “Discover” page and school down a little bit, you will see the “special offers” section.
These offers are special offers that are only valid for a certain amount of time, but they will reward you with more than 1% of the purchase price.
Under the picture of the item, you will find all the fine print, including:
Be aware that sometimes, offers are only valid at certain stores. If it is only valid at one store, the logo for that store with be above the picture. If it’s only available at certain stores but there are multiple, you will find that in the fine print.
There are a few different types of special offers, so let me break them all down.
These offers will give you the product and the number of points you will receive for buying a single product.
These are simple and straight forward. You buy one product; you get the specified number of points for that product.
These offers just mean that you have to buy multiple items in order to receive points. Most commonly, you have to buy two products.
These offers mean you have to spend a certain amount, usually before any other coupons, in order to receive points.
Once you start on this offer, it will appear at the top of your screen so that you can see how much you’ve spent toward that offer and how much you have left to spend.
These offers mean you receive a certain percentage of the purchase price back.
With this, there are offers that will give you 100% of the purchase price back, including the original 25 points for scanning your receipt.
So now you know all about the points system, how they work, what they mean, and all the different types of offers. Now I bet you’re wondering just exactly how are you supposed to submit all these receipts?
It’s super easy, I promise.
Note that you have seven days from the purchase date to redeem your receipt. Once those seven days are up, Fetch Rewards will not allow you to redeem your receipt.
From your home screen (a.k.a Discover), you will select the camera button at the bottom, middle of your screen.
Then you’ll select whether you have a E-receipt or a physical receipt (snap).
In order to submit an E-receipt, you will have to connect your email or Amazon account.
When submitting a physical receipt, you will have to give Fetch Rewards access to your camera in order to take pictures of the receipt. This is the screen you will see after you do that (please enjoy me trying to take a picture of my thumb for educational purposes).
Once your entire receipt has been captured and all the necessary information has been recognized, the “date”, “total”, and “store” bubbles on the right-hand side will turn green.
Hit “submit”.
(If not all the information was recognized, you can manually fill it in).
Once submitted and Fetch Rewards notices that you’ve earned points, it will launch itself into what I would consider an armature Broadway show performed by drunk toddlers before your points earned will show at the top of the screen.
Sometimes, Fetch Rewards won’t give you the points you were supposed to get because not everybody is perfect. If you need to make adjustments, you can click “correct receipt” at the bottom of this screen and search the items on your receipt.
If you’ve already gone back to the “discover” screen but want to make adjustments to your receipt, tap on your points balance at the top right of the screen, scroll down and tap on the receipt in question, then scroll to the bottom and tap “correct receipt” to make any changes.
Experience tip: I have noticed that sometimes Fetch won’t recognize that a certain item is valid for a special offer. For example, it will recognize that I bought Dove deodorant and give me the 1% back, but for some odd reason it won’t give me the 1000 points from the special offer. When this happens, I just go to “correct receipt” and type in the product name and select a different offer. For some reason, this seems to work.
To see your points balance, look at the top right corner of your home screen.
To redeem your rewards, you will go to the “rewards” tab at the bottom.
Search through the categories to find what exactly you’d like to redeem your rewards on.
Once you open the retailer, you will see what options they offer.
To redeem the reward, click on what you want to redeem your rewards for and then follow the prompts through. You will notice the points are deducted from your total once this process is complete.
The reason I recommend Fetch Rewards so often is because you can decide how involved you want to be. You can be a crazy person (like me) and scan the app each week for new deals, or you can just make a stack of receipts and scan them all at the end of the week. The choice is entirely yours.
Whenever I try to teach people about money strategy, I always try to train their brains to think small. Three cents a receipt, plus one dollar here or there, doesn’t seem like much, but it does add up.
I haven’t paid for an Airbnb for at least a year because I cash in all my Fetch Rewards points for Airbnb gift cards. Every little bit helps.
Thanks for reading my guide on how to use Fetch Rewards!
Happy saving everyone!

Can I give an egift card to someone else? I’d like to send my mom an egift card for her birthday but I don’t see any info on that in fetch rewards.

The only way I could think you could do this is to just sent them a picture of the gift card number and pin! All the information should be emailed to you, so you could print the page and give it to her that way?
